When It Rains...

As we all know, sometimes the weather doesn't cooperate when you're on vacation.  One time we were caught in sever downpour while on the chair lift to the top of Ober Gatlinburg.  Fortunately, there is PLEANTY to do around the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area that will keep you indoors, air conditioned, and dry!

Titanic Museum

Billed as the world's largest Titanic Museum, this elaborate attraction boasts over 400 actual artifacts from the wreck of the Titanic.  Enjoy recorded first hand accounts from actual survivors, learn from the educational exhibits and get hands on with interactive exhibits.  A well trained, well staffed "crew" will be on hand to assist you with your self-guided tour.  This attraction is at the top of the list of things yet to do for our oldest daughter.  She has quite an infatuation with history and has specific interest in the Titanic.  This is on our long list of attractions to visit and review.  Comedy & Dinner Shows

If live intertainment is what you are lookin' for, Pigeon Forge has a whole host of dinner shows that will surely fit the bill. Virtually all of these are family friendly and great for rainy evenings, however, reservations are recommended across the board. Gennerally silly "country" humor, but entertaining. We've not seen them all, but I suspect eventually we will...

Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede
Lumberjack Feud
Hatfields and McCoys
Comedy Barn

Ripleys Aquarium

 Riplye's Attractions

Another favorite of the kids is the Ripley's Museums. They love the books and TV shows and the attractions are somewhat of an extension of that. The tickets are pricey, but you can buy combo packs on the the Ripley's sites and get tickets to multiple Ripley's attractions at a discounted rate. I think this are more fun for the kids than the adults, but the attractions look somewhat entertaining and are a good option for bad weather.  Here is a link to buy tickets.

The Forge Cinemas

 The Forge Cinemas

Who doesn't enjoy going to the movies on a rainy day.  Yes I know, you're on vacation, why would you want to go to a movie theater.  Sometimes after a day of hiking or walking around shops, it is nice to just relax in an air conditioned theater for a little while.  The theater is nice with multiple screens and is always showing the latest movies.  Pricing is pretty typical with any movie theater, so it is expensive.  Here is a link to a map and a link to the site for the show schedule.

The Cabin Game Room

 The Cabin Game Room

Sometimes you want to just kick back and spend the day at the cabin.  One of my personal favorites!  There is pleanty to do at the cabin including siting on the deck and enjoying the surrounding nature or a fire.  The main level deck is covered by the upper deck and protects you pretty well from rain, so even in the light rain you can enjoy the area.  Also you may want to play a few rounds of Pool or Foosball in the basement.  A mini fridge is available for you to stock with your favorite beverages, and soon we hope to be adding an Air Hockey table as well.  The theater is also in the basement if watching movies at home is more your speed.  Bring your favorite DVDs or look for a Red Box (Food City, just a few minutes down the road) location close by.  The giant projection screen wont disappoint.

Have you been to any attractions you'd like to share with our guests, or would like for our family to check out and review?  At some point we'll be adding more detailed reviews of all of the activities we've done.  If you'd like to contribute any thing, please feel free to use the comments below.
